On the 11th October we headed to Ashton Gate Stadium to exhibit at the Business Showcase South West 2017. Over 225 exhibitors from the South West came to showcase their services, and there were free seminars led by business experts, workshops and networking events. This event was a great opportunity to make connections with businesses in the region, and a great way to put Aquamarine on the map even more!
We had great conversations with people about our favourite things (PPC, Content, and Social) throughout the afternoon and gave out exclusive Aquamarine goody bags to attendees. Our PPC Execs, Scott and Sam, even got a chance to meet sales expert and tutor, Alison Edgar!
Lizzy Lillington-Lester, a Partner Manager for Facebook Europe, Middle East, and Africa gave a talk on “Mobile, Visual , Personal - Future-proofing your business with Facebook”. Lizzy said that Facebook’s companies have become so widespread that “1 in every 4 minutes spent on a mobile phone is spent on Facebook or Instagram”.
As mobile use rises, Lizzy stated that marketers must think visually, “Mobile has created a new visual language - 100 million hours of video are watched every day on Facebook”. Video is definitely the way forward as it's predicted that online video will make up 80% of internet traffic by 2020!
We also came across an interesting seminar held by Clive Colledge, an advertising academic, on marketing to different generations. Clive argued that there should be no such thing as ‘Baby Boomers’, ‘Generation X’, and ‘Millennials’, as it can be less effective to segment people by age instead of values and lifestyle.Do you agree?
